Quick puffed rice snack ~ Indian style !

Hey guys !

I made one of my favorite quick snack recipes today and wanted to share it with you all. I was debating if I should put it up on the blog or not, because it’s such a simple recipe and also I didn’t get to take enough pictures 😦 .. So hopefully you understand that and let’s jump right into the details :

All you need :

Puffed rice – 4 Cups

Roasted chana dal – 2 Tablespoons

Peanuts – 1/2 Cup

Onion – finely chopped – 1 Cup

Tomato – finely chopped – 1 Cup

Green chillies – finely chopped – 1 Tablespoon

Cilantro – chopped – Few sprigs

Mint – chopped – Few leaves

Coriander powder – 1/2 Teaspoon

Cumin powder – 1/2 Teaspoon

Chaat masala – 1/2 Teaspoon

Lemon juice – 1 Teaspoon

Salt – Per taste

Serves : 2

Time to prepare : 10 Minutes

Let’s get started : 

1> Dry roast the peanuts and keep aside. Combine the chana dal with puffed rice and dry roast or microwave together for about a minute, just to warm them up. Mix the peanuts with this.

2> In a bowl, mix all the chopped onions, tomatoes, green chillies, cilantro, mint, lemon juice and the dry spices (coriander, cumin, chaat powders) and salt.

3> Now mix both the above together very well and that’s it !! How simple was that?!

It’s a good idea for an easy quick day time snack !!! 🙂

Tips / Variations : 

> Microwaving the puffed rice is to make it crunchier and tastier by just warming it up.

> In this recipe, honestly there is no right quantity of ingredients, as everything is per taste.

    Take the aval pori (puffed rice flakes) , add the roasted chana dal, toasted coconut slices and the cardamom powder, mix everything together.
