Hii everyone !!

Its Spring / Summer time, also means its Mango time !

I am so excited, as I have tried Mango pickle for the first time, surprisingly it came out perfect ! … So, wanted to share with you all … and for all of you who are trying for the first time I would make it real easy for you 🙂

I have learnt this totally (over phone) from my lovely mom, so this one (and of course a lot of my cooking) goes to you amma ! 🙂

Ugadi Pachadi / New Year Mango Chutney

Helloo everybody !!

It’s this time of the year, entering spring over here in the US (yayy !), which also means burning hot summer in India ! … and also marking the beginning of festivals for the year back in India.

‘Ugadi’ is the Telugu New Year (also celebrated in Karnataka and Maharashtra) and is a beautiful occasion to celebrate and welcome another year into our lives !

The most important food item of the day would have to be the ‘Ugadi Pachadi’ (chutney made with raw mangoes). This is such a special recipe as it has its own meaning and importance associated to it. This chutney is made comprising of six tastes, symbolizes the fact that life is a mixture of different experiences. The six tastes are bitterness, sourness, saltiness, sweetness, hot-ness and tangy-ness !
